Product Description

LXLE is based on Lubuntu which is an Ubuntu OS using the LXDE desktop enviroment.

LXLE Lanshop Announcement

For the most part Lanshop is simply a reworked edition of LXLE that better supports a more business like setting and features such as the apps that are available to everyone on the Local Area Network.

Trying to work these ideas into the existing LXLE desktop distribution simply did not work as most everyday users would not find much (if any) of the business additions useful. It also considerably changed system as a whole, making it worthy of standing on its own.

This release is 'tentative' at best. Why? Well it's the first attempt at providing an OS with a built-in sever designed for business. In other words there is a lot to learn and we are just getting started with this version.

This system (more or less) has been managing a relatively busy (but small) automotive garage for a few months now. While modifications / additions might need to be made for any business, for the most part it's handle all their needs.

For now I would say it's best for businesses of 10 or less employees and freelancers. It's designed to give you a starting point for business related computing while also providing personal computing needs as many times in a small business both are needed on a daily basis.

So what does it provide?

Local Area Network

Point of Sale System, Human Resource Management, Calendars/Scheduling, CMS Solution, News Management, Frequently Asked Questions and Bulletin Board System among other features.

Local System Only

SeaMonkey
Web browsing, email client (bulk as well), feed reader, irc client (user support), calendar (Lightning), address book, fireftp & a light html editor.

GnuCash
Accounting software, capable of small business tasks such as double entry bookkeeping, invoicing and payroll.

LinPhone
VOIP software, intended to replace Skype, it allows for messaging, video chat, file transfer, voip to voip and regular phone calls plus conferencing.

Samba
Provides the system the ability to join a local network or establish one if desired or needed.

Syncthing
Provides a file sharing/syncing service similar to dropbox or googledrive without the need for a central server.

LibreOffice
Provides a suite of applications from spreadsheets to databases to handle your backend business document needs. Handles most MS Office documents.

Planner
An easy-to-use no-nonsense cross-platform project management application. Projects can also be printed to PDF or exported to HTML.

Lamp Control
Small python app used to control LAMP basics, start/stop Apache/Mysql and access to phpmyadmin plus server and php directories.

Self Control
The purpose of the program is to block access to certain web sites (Blacklist) for a period of time with no easy way to unblock access.

SystemBack
Backup your entire system, create a complete and total reinstall CD/DVD/USB. Many options available.

Plus much more, including apps for marketing, planning, diagrams, etc etc. Some self discovery is required.

As of now Lanshop is in its infancy, its intention is to be completely free and legal for any business to use while also being easy enough to understand for most casual computer users to utilize on a daily basis without complication.

Simply opening the browser will generate two tabs. One is a standard start page, the other is the LanPage, which houses all your apps and features available to others on the Local Area Network. By default all outside traffic is blocked.

Admittedly I'm hesitant about this release since its unfamiliar territory, yet since I was already dipping my toes in something like this in real life, I figured others may also find it useful and perhaps their input can make it better.
