How can you afford to sell so cheap?
It's easy to keep our prices low, because our goal is NOT to make as much money as possible.
OSDisc.com was founded by Ramsey Brenner, who has been involved with open source for over 10 years, and has
contributed to several open source projects. Since it began, OSDisc.com's goal has been to introduce Linux to
as many people as possible. Keeping our prices low helps us achieve that goal.
How are your CDs made?
Unless otherwise noted, our CDs are manufactured on premium quality CDR media. Each CD is professionally labeled and clearly indicates the distribution, version, CD or DVD number (ie: CD #1, CD #2, etc), and the platform.
What is the difference between the Live CD and DVD versions?
Since CDs can only hold about 700MB of data, there is little room for extra applications. Many live CDs include only a handful of popular applications. The DVD version includes everything on the CD + typically 3-4GB of additional software.
What do the platform names mean?
The platform names indicate what type of computer the distribution is compatible with.
| Platform | Description |
| PC | For almost all PCs. This includes machines with Intel/AMD processors, Apple computers with Intel processors, and all computers that run Microsoft Windows. 64-bit PCs are also capable of running the PC version. So if you are not sure if you have a 64-bit processor, purchase the PC version of the distribution. This will ensure you will be able to use your new Linux distribution. |
| 64-bit PC | 64-bit computers that use Intel's or AMD's 64-bit processors, including Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Opteron, and AMD Athlon 64 processors. |
