SaxenOS 2.0

SaxenOS is an easy to install, beginner-friendly, and lightweight operating system that can help ease the transition from Windows to Linux. It is based on the Slackware and Zenwalk distributions with the Xfce desktop. All of the packages included in SaxenOS were selected from the Slackware, Zenwalk, Wolvix, and SLAX repositories.

SaxenOS is designed for older, low-specification computers. The minimum hardware system requirements are quite low. SaxenOS can run on a Pentium II 350 MHz or faster, 128 MB RAM or more, and 2 GB hard disk space.

SaxenOS 2.0 features:

• Linux kernel 2.6.18.6 with ndiswrapper and ndiswrapper GUI
• Automatic Hardware Detection (udev 104)
• X Window System is Xorg 7.1
• Based on Slackware 11.0 and Zenwalk 4.4
• Graphical installer with GParted LiveCD 0.33 and InstallJammer is bilingual in English and German
• Windows-like interface and package management. Applications can be installed with familiar, Windows-like installers. Removal of installed software is done the same way as it is in Windows: click the uninstaller icon and an assistant does the rest for you.
• Base package management uses netpkg for automatic downloads of new or updated packages
• Preconfigured without being intrusive
• Xfce 4.4.0 final as the desktop
• Highly customizable interface that doesn't resemble main stream desktops
• Hand picked applications for office, internet, development, and multimedia
• Most home and office applications pre-installed
• English, Hebrew, Arabic, German, and Urdu fonts included by default
