Mutagenix uses Slapt-get as the foundation for the Mutagenix build system. The build system is available for download and includes copious notes on building the kernel and supporting software for making your own live CD.

It is also extremely easy to boot up on Mutagenix, add and remove programs, configure to your taste, and then remaster a new CD filesystem image.
