Originally created by a group of developers who split from the KANOTIX project and launched their own distribution to do the impossible--make Debian Sid stable.

The sidux team will provide three to four carefully balanced Sid snapshots each year, together with easy and fast installation options; while striving to properly package and contribute all suitable work back to Debian. The distribution will be enriched with a properly patched version of the most recent kernels, improved hardware detection, ready to go drivers, helpful scripts, and anything useful.

sidux detects and enables you to instantly use more hardware than any other operating system today without the need to search for drivers from hardware vendors' web sites or complicated installation routines.

sidux is also a base system for further customizations and adaptations to special needs (laptop, desktop, server or special purpose workstation). It can be used in private and corporate surroundings and makes a fine platform for appliances. It will always remain a 100% Debian Sid compatible system, giving you direct access to the world's largest repository of software packages (more than 17,000) which are all free and open source.

sidux only contains software that meets the Debian Free Software Guidelines (DFSG).
